2008 Wild West History Roundup
July 16-19, 2008 Tulsa, Oklahoma
The Wild West History Roundup will be held July 16-19, 2008 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 100 East 2nd Street, in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Wednesday evening keynote speaker for the Roundup will be David Dary. Thursday and Saturday speakers will include: Robert Barr Smith, Bob Ernst, Mike Tower, David Turk, Catherine Gray, Dee Cordry, Jan Devereaux, Bill O'Neal, Corey Recko, Paul Cool, Jim Fulbright, and Larry Yadon.
Among the panelists participating in the evening breakout sessions will be: Michael Koch, Chuck Parsons, Liz Freeman, Nancy Samuelson, Bob Ernst, Bob Alexander, Larry Ball, Sharon Cunningham, Pam Potter, Anne Collier, Mike Cox, Rick Miller, and Dennis Lippe.
The annual awards presentation will be conducted at a special Saturday noon luncheon. Vice-President Dakota Livesay will preside and board member Carroll Moore will have charge of the awards program.
The closing banquet on Saturday evening will feature Tulsa author Michael Wallis speaking on the topic: "The Real Wild West: 101 Ranch and the West of Myth & Reality." Other banquet activities will include the traditional "western attire" contest and an "ugly hat" competition. (More information on these activities will be forthcoming.) Marshall Trimble will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
Registering for the "Complete Program" will provide access to every session of the Roundup including: Opening Reception, All Speakers, Four Breakout Sessions, Two Bus Tours, Two Luncheons, and the annual Banquet.
Those unable to attend the complete program may want to consider the "Selected Options." One option is "Wednesday and Thursday" registration which will allow access to the Opening Reception, all Thursday Speakers, and Two Breakout Sessions. Another option is for "Saturday Only" which will include all Saturday Speakers, the Awards Luncheon, the Gilcrease Tour, and the annual Banquet.
As always, there will be plenty of vendors on hand selling books, western art, jewelry, and many other items of interest.
WWHA is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization and is seeking Roundup Sponsors. Those interested in making a tax deductible contribution to the association should contact one of the Roundup co-chairmen.
One of the Roundup highlights will be the bus tours. On Friday the group will tour Woolaroc Museum at Bartlesville, Oklahoma, the Dalton Defenders Museum at Coffeyville, Kansas, and the J.M. Davis Arms and Historical Museum at Claremore, Oklahoma. On Saturday, a special tour has been arranged for Tulsa's Gilcrease Museum which will have an extraordinary exhibit on the 101 Ranch.
Four breakout sessions are planned for Thursday and Friday evenings including "Ingalls Reexamined;" "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly: A Symposium on Wild West Characters;" "An Evening With Robert DeArment;" and "Women of the Wild West."
